Mission:  The Vermont Symphony Orchestra Association, Inc., a state-supported non-profit institution, exists for the purpose of fostering and encouraging the appreciation of music in all its various forms, with emphasis on orchestral, choral and chamber music. It seeks to raise the common standard of musical education and enjoyment, and to provide, at moderate cost, quality performances for a broad and diverse public throughout the State of Vermont.

Under its SymphonyKids program, the VSO provides:

Musicians-in-the-Schools includes seven different ensembles that are available for in-school presentations. Tends to play mostly in elementary and middle schools. (fee varies)

Also: David Ludwig, composer and VSO New Music Advisor, visits schools for a $25 booking fee. He has variety of presentations that can be tailored to any age group and level of musical background.

There are many volunteer opportunities available at VSO concerts and behind the scenes, from ushering, to helping out in the office, to providing hospitality to musicians. For more information, contact the VSO at (800) VSO-9293 x 10.

Volunteers are sought for the Summer Festival Tour; the orchestra crew enjoys the show for free.
