Old Fort Western is a 1754 National Historic Landmark fort on the Kennebec River in Augusta and the oldest surviving wooden fort in New England.

Visitors to the fort take an interpreted or self-guided tour on the importance of the Kennebec in the American Revolution, including information on Benedict Arnold’s use of the fort.

The site offers programs for teachers and classes studying civics, economics and history.
