Green infrastructure is a process by which the landscape is made more efficient or eco-friendly in terms of water management/conservation, energy usage/production, and friendliness to wildlife.  It encompasses both the built and natural environments.  The Brooklyn Botanic Garden's visitor's center is a LEED certified green building.  Not only is the building itself a green structure, but it includes rain gardens, geothermal wells, and glass that is meant to minimize bird collisions.
