Coney Island

"natural environment" "built environment"

The natural environment is made up by all living and non-living things that are naturally on Earth.  The environment that is influenced by humans can be called "the built environment" or cultural landscape. Natural environments are anything that isn't man-made.   The natural environment of New York City is very diverse.  There are forests, salt marshes, and many coastlines.  Because the natural environment of New York City has many islands that comprise it, beaches are common.  One example of a beach in NYC is Coney Island.  The south Brooklyn coastline is part of the natural environment, yet there are many aspects of built environment very close to it, like skyscrapers and an amusement park.
