Capital City YouthBuild, a program of Community Renewal Team, provides education and vocational services to high-risk youth.

This program is for young people from Hartford, ages 16-24, who get paid to develop the skills for success. They can pursue a career in construction, food service or health care while completing high school or earning a GED. Graduates move into apprenticeships and jobs. Participants have access to CRT's full range of programs and services. Staff speaks English and Spanish.

To Apply
There are two application periods: August to October and January to March. Classes fill on a first-come first serve basis.

Applicants must:

  • Live in Hartford
  • Be 16 – 24 years old
  • Be jobless
  • Meet income limits
  • Sign a contract
  • Commit to a one-week orientation

Bring the following to first meeting:

  • Photo ID
  • Proof of citizenship or legal alien status
  • School paperwork showing enrollment in high school, drop out or GED completion
  • Wage stubs (individual and family members)
