Site Description[1]
The Front Street Holder Station is comprised of two parcels of land located at 206 and 218 Front St in Brooklyn, NY.  206 is currently operated as a commercial office and 218 is used for manufacturing and industrial purposes. The 1887 and 1915 Sanborn maps show a manufactured gas holder station operating onsite. In 1887 the site contained one holder and by 1915 two holders were located on the site. No evidence of gas production is shown on the maps, so it appears this was only a remote storage holder. The SC work plan has been approved, but as of 10/08 field work had not yet begun, pending an access agreement with the current landowner.
