VOCs brownfield VCP "vapor intrusion"

Site Description[1]
The site is a former Petroleum Bulk Storage Facility, PBS no. 2-603180. At the time of the remedial action it served as a maintenance facility for Bayside Fuel Corporation. The results of the remedial action are compiled in a final report dated July 15, 2003, certified by a NY PE on July 25, 2003. The remedial action has been completed, no further action/monitoring is required, and a release letter was issued on April 16, 2004. See also spill # 9809992.

Site Environmental Assessment
A petroleum plume existed in the groundwater on the north side of the site. There was also localized contamination at several drywells. Contamination appeared to be a result of historical leaks, before the current owner purchased the property.

Site Health Assessment
The site has been remediated, therefore, exposures to groundwater and soil are not expected. Remediation included excavation and removal of underground storage tanks, dry wells and contaminated soil. The site is also covered with buildings and pavement. Exposure to groundwater is unlikely since the area is served by public water supply.
