Site Description
This BCP Application is for investigation, remediation and redevelopment of the New Housing New York Legacy Project, Bronxchester Urban Renewal Area Site 1A. This vacant 1.59-acre, irregularly shaped parcel is located at 700-730 Brook Avenue in the Borough of the Bronx, New York. The Site is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of East 156th Street and Brook Avenue. Past uses of this property include a freight yard for the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company, a provisions facility, and a gasoline station. Although the site is currently vacant, remnants of the foundations of the former gas station and provisions facility still exist. This Site was accepted into the BCP on 12/18/08. An Agreement was sent to the Applicant on the same day. The Department is waiting for the Applicant's response.
Site Environmental Assessment

Known or suspected contaminants listed are petroleum, chlorinated solvents, SVOCs, metals, pesticides, PCBs and other VOCs. These contaminants are impacting the soil, groundwater, and soil gas.
